Restoring Life’s Rhythm: Bud Kendrick’s Story

Bud Kendrick has always been a man on the move. Whether he was working tirelessly in his machine shop or enjoying a round of golf, his energy and zest for life were boundless. However, heart problems began to take a toll on his health, causing severe breathing difficulties that left him practically chained to his home. Even simple tasks like walking around the house would leave him breathless. For a man who thrived on activity, this was devastating.

The vibrant man who had always been a pillar of strength in his family was suddenly confined to his home and unable to enjoy the things he loved. His family felt the weight of his absence in their shared activities, and his spirit seemed dimmed by his physical limitations.

Thanks to the dedicated doctors and staff at Pikeville Medical Center, his story took a positive turn after treatment at the Heart and Vascular Institute of Eastern Kentucky.

“The staff has been nothing short of miraculous in restoring my papaw’s health,” said Bud’s granddaughter Shawna. “With their expertise and unwavering support, my grandfather’s heart and lungs have been given a new lease on life.”

Bud is no longer tethered to his home. He can embrace the life he loves, spending quality time with his family and watching his great-grandchildren grow up. His family says the transformation in his health has been remarkable. As he has slowly returned to his beloved activities, the joy in his eyes has returned, instead of pain and suffering.

“I have always been ‘papaw’s girl,’ and the bond we share is unbreakable,” Shawna said. “He has stood by me through countless milestones, from walking me down the aisle to celebrating the birth of my children. His presence in our lives is invaluable, and I am endlessly grateful to the doctors and professionals at PMC for keeping his heart strong and healthy. Their care and dedication have restored my grandfather’s quality of life and reinforced his irreplaceable role in our family. My papaw is my heart, and thanks to PMC, his heart continues to beat strong, allowing us to share many more cherished moments,”

The man who once seemed lost has returned.

“My heart swells with every smile, every laugh, every precious moment we now get to share. Because of the comprehensive care and compassionate team at PMC, the rhythm in his heart and life has been restored and I still have my papaw here with me, continuing to be the rock I lean on, the hero I look up to, and the heart that beats in rhythm with mine.”
