AVAOverview

Pikeville Medical Center’s multi-disciplinary teams are equipped to offer families unrivaled expertise in understanding and meeting the needs of toddlers and children with autism and related challenges. The AVA Center provides life-changing therapy for children. It’s goal is to identify children at the earliest signs of detection, and provide therapy that has the potential to change the trajectory of their young lives.

PMC established The Appalachian Valley Autism (AVA) Center to provide life-changing therapy for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to identify children at the earliest signs of detection and provide therapy that has the potential to change the trajectory of their young lives. As we turned the soil at the groundbreaking ceremony, the faces of hopeful parents and eager children, each representing a story of struggle, had the promise of better days ahead. This center was more than bricks and mortar; it was proof of our community’s spirit and our shared commitment to care for our children with ASD. The AVA Center quickly became a hub of innovation and excellence, providing an inclusive environment integrated with evidence-based therapies, cutting-edge technology and a multidisciplinary team approach. Our therapists, educators and medical professionals work together, ensuring that each child receives tailored interventions designed to unlock their potential, encapsulating the essence of why we do what we do—transforming lives, one child at a time.

To continue programs like this, PMC is asking for help from donors to make a difference in the lives of Eastern Kentucky children. Your gift can make a difference.

The AVA Center has emerged as a sanctuary dedicated to the remarkable children navigating the beautiful complexities of autism, and with the support of a Community Funded Project Grant, the AVA Center now offers an outdoor sensory stimulation area opening a canvas of opportunities and possibilities and cater to the specialized needs of children in Central Appalachia.

Aligned with the support, funding and advocacy, the expansion and growth of the AVA Center represents monumental strides in the Bluegrass state, yet the biggest achievements come when the silence is finally broken into a non-verbal child.
